Greenwood Wed 17 May

13 brave soldiers punched their way up the 331 in appalling weather, this in the hope that the skys cleared before tee off, which they did, for 3 holes, then it cleared, for another 3 holes, all in all there were 3 rain delays of about 15 minutes each.  The last 3 to 6 holes were played in heavy rain, the fairways were saturated which often meant playing these holes from where the ball lied.

Remarkably the greens had no casual water and putted true, all in all the round took 6 hours and we were the only players on the course.

The caddies must be applauded for trying to keep us and our equipment dry to the detriment of themselves.

There is not a handicap system which takes into account these playing conditions, which makes the winners score more remarkable.

Congrats to  John (Kenny) Hoddy  40 points in first place.

Second with 35 Points Roy Steinbach, who sank a 35ft putt on the last for par.

In 3rd place Thierry Themime 34 points

4th Neil Lavery 32 points

There were no 2,s today

Greenwood Wed 19 Oct

Playing the difficult B&C courses today, it was a good day out like it normally is at Greenwood. However, we will likely give Greenwood a skip for a couple of months as they increased the prices a bit to much to our liking.

Strange result today with 4 people making the top spot by scoring 35 points. In 3rd place, Stephen Watkins finally got his handicap sorted out and managed it into the prizes with 3rd place on 18 countback. In 2nd place (Bobby) Robert Young scored 19 on the back nine. Top spot went to Daniel Biel who had the best back nine with 20.

Just a small group of brave hearts taking on the 331 motorway to Treasure Hills today - thanks to Peter Nixon taking care of the arrangements. Reports are that the course is in great condition and lush, with the greens in good shape as well. With the best rate on offer anywhere in Pattaya, this is definitely worth the occasional trip.

Andy Makara has once again clinched top spot with an awesome 38 points playing from the yellow tee's, with Peter Nixon coming in 2nd place.

Tony Pattison and John Cogan each scored a 2.

The 331 is looking good and just a small single lane section remains which made our trip feel a lot shorter than usual.

With no one getting a two, our pay out list extended to 5th place today with Wally Brown getting it with a good 35 points. We're happy to welcome some German-Swiss players join us and Hans-Georg Bufe played a solid round with 37 points to get the 4th spot. Beating Georg on count back, Colin Patterson made third place, but playing partner and money taker of note during the last week, Brendan Cope again came in with a high score of 39 points. Unfortunately for Brendan, Neil Fidele had a better back 9 and walked away with the top podium position with his fabulous 39 points.

Greenwood Wed 20 July

Taking the long drive to Greenwood today was a breeze with it being a public holiday and with the price up from last minth but still very manageable, it was a great day out. On the way back it was a different matter, with an accident on the construction side delaying us by a good 20 mins before we engaged the help of google maps and drove back on some never before driven roads.

It was nice to play the difficult C course again where we started from. Next nine was the B course. With all the rain, the rough is really wild at the moment and some players even lost plugged balls just off the fairways.

32 points was good enough for a 4th and 5th place with Eddy Beilby and Steve Mann taking the honours. In third place, the ever reliable Barry Copestake, with 2nd place going to John Cogan. Andy Makara is making good use of his high handicap, which he got incidently as a result of some pretty terrible rounds on tour in Phuket, and he finally came good again to record a fabulous 38 points to win the comp by a margin of 2 shots.

Mainly supporting the monthly PSC tournament at Green Valley, the Outback just had a small group of mainly tourers play Greenwood today as our alternate competition for those not eligible or that couldn't/wouldn't play in the PSC tournament. Adam Farrell and Steve Rawlings playing from the blue tee's both had 32 points for 3rd/4th place, with Greg Braemar scoring 33 points for 2nd and Mathias Hermann playing some beautiful golf from the difficult blue tee's to finish with 38 points in 1st place.

Greenwood Wed 25 May

Greenwood is undoubtably the best value golf course in Pattaya at the moment, and it is a course that we will be visiting more frequently in June due to its popularity and great value. The only negative in getting there and back is the trek through Amata City and the roadworks on the 331, but as a course, it is beautifully designed, well maintained and the most affordable there is.

In 3rd place, KB Lee scored an impressive 38 points from his 10 handicap. Kim Danboise finally came good eith his putting with 39 points, and Billy Eyles had a great front nine to finish with 40 points overall.

Greenwood Wed 6 Apr

Getting a really good rate on this Public holiday, this course presents the best value for money to be had, and we had a pretty full field with a two tee start. Unfortunately, as we made the turn after 9, the course was pretty backed up with the starter pushing other groups ahead causing a 20 minute delay and a slow round overall with the course being so busy on this public holiday. On the positive side, the drive up and back to Pattaya was smooth with not a lot of traffic.

John O'Keefe features for the 2nd time this week in the prizes, coming in 3rd spot with 33 points in the B division. Seven points better, at 40 points was Eddy Beilby, and playing a great round on this difficult course with enough points for overall 1st, was Andy Makara with 42 points. In the A division, the ever present Peter Nixon had another good round of 38pts for 3rd, and Stephen Mann scored 40 pts to lose on countback to Peter Lenoury on the same handicap but a better back 9.

With some of us playing from the blue tees where one par 3 measured 240yrds, the par 3's was even long from the white tees, with the shortest being around 155 yrds. No wonder then that there were no two's today!

A very enjoyable day and well done!

Greenwood Wed 23 Mar

A great turnout and enjoyable day! Taking on the 331 road construction, we set off for Greenwood and got there in about 50 mins. from the Outback. This course presents exceptionally good value with a superb promotion to compensate for the traffic pains. Many of our pundits commented on the great layout of the course, and although the greens were fairly slow, they were in very good condition. Off the fairways and the green areas, signs of an early drought is to be seen, with a lot of dead leaves and vegetation to content with if your ball flight misbehaves as much as mine do.

Being a tough course, only 3 players got better than par on stabelford, which indicates that this course is a good and fair test.  In the B division, Geoff Harrison came in 3rd place with 34 points, followed by Ron Meldrum on 36 points and our winner in that division with a fantastic 39 points, was Kev Tompsett. In the A division, where a couple of us took the course on from the blue tees, the results were well balanced, where David Martin scored 36 points from the white tees, Phil Blanchard, playing superbly to finish on 77 and clinched 2nd place with 37 points from the blue tees, and our champ in the A division, Stephen Mann scoring a great 38 points to finish first.

There were 2 two's today, with Brad Jordison and Steve Plant.
